Achu Murukku, also known as Rose Cookies, is a crispy, mildly sweet deep-fried snack popular in South India, especially during Christmas and festive occasions. It is made by blending rice flour, maida (all-purpose flour), powdered sugar, and coconut milk into a batter, which is then deep-fried using a handheld mold to create its signature flower-like shape.
This snack is also called Achappam in Kerala, where it is believed to have originated from Dutch influence. The batter is often flavored with sesame seeds, cumin, and cardamom, giving it a unique taste. The preparation involves heating the mold in oil, dipping it into the batter, and frying until the cookie separates from the mold.
